If You Want To Succeed Do This First!

The One Thing To Make Your Life Better

If I had to pick one thing, one element, one tool or skill to use to improve my way of life it would be Taking Responsibility For My Life!

It turns out that people who don't do this (take responsibility for themselves) usually blame others for their circumstances. And although there may be legitimate reason for blaming it doesn't really fix the problem. In fact if anything blaming just takes you out of the driver's seat and it gives control to the one you're blaming. You see when you take responsibility for your life you are in control. You are basically saying regardless of what happened to me or what is going on in the world (maybe it's fair/not fair, just/unjust, right /wrong) I’m not going to let other people’s drama get the best of me.

I remember when I first took responsibility for my life. I was 25 years old and had to make a decision. I was either going to blame my family, friends, the environment, government for my addiction or I was going to get clean and do what I had to do to stay sober. Someone once told me, “Beau- it is not your fault for your addiction but it is your responsibility for your recovery.” Now I understand you may not be struggling with an addiction but perhaps you have a resentment you are holding on to or problem that seems to be keeping you from being your best.

My question to you right now is what are you going to do about it:

Are you going to join the majority of the people who blame others and never take responsibility? Or, are you going to take responsibility for your life and step up to the plate. It’s real easy to make excuses as to why we have or don't have certain things in life. But often times it can be difficult to own up and do something with our life. Taking responsibility for my life was probably one of the best things I’ve done.

Today’s Action Step:

For today's action step Ask yourself am I taking responsibility for my life or am I quick to blame others for my current circumstances. Remember when you point the finger at others you have three more pointing back at you. Take control over your life. Make a difference. You deserve it.
